After obtaining his medical degree at the University of Nottingham, Steve undertook postgraduate training in Pathology, General Practice Medicine, Occupational Medicine and Sports Medicine spending the next 16 years combining a career in family practice alongside his special interests.
In 1998 he became Medical Officer at Liverpool Football Club Academy and from 2002 was also a Medical Officer for England Youth Football Teams. Steve was appointed as full-time Club Doctor at Manchester United in 2006 and worked with colleagues to develop an extensive Medical and Sports Science team operating from the Aon Training Complex, Carrington, Manchester. Training Complex facilities were upgraded in 2013 with the addition of a state of the art medical imaging centre as part of the Canon Medical Partnership.
Steve has a longstanding interest in Musculoskeletal imaging, in particular the use of Ultrasound and MRI in the specific football environment and has published several articles for Canon Medical on those topics in addition to contributing to research in Cardiology and Oral Health in footballers.
