Globally, stroke is a leading cause of mortality and disability with the World Stroke Organization reporting an annual mortality rate of 5 and a half million people*. Additionally, up to 50% of survivors have chronic disability posing a major public health problem and substantial economic burden. Identifying who is at risk of stroke remains a high priority according to the US Preventive Services Task Force**.
